Adam Rosen, Ed.D.
Adam is a transformative leader with 20 years’ experience in education. He holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Southern Connecticut State University, and a master’s degree in Education from SUNY Stony Brook. Adam graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Mary Washington.
Prior to working in education, Adam began his career as a research scientist with the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History. Working with the museum’s Marine Systems Laboratory, he managed projects related to a Florida Everglades simulation, aquaculture, ecological water treatment, and coral reef regeneration. He then began his career in education as a seventh grade science teacher, soon becoming the chairman of the science department, at East Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield, CT. He served as Assistant Principal of East Ridge from 2007-2012.
Adam came to Westport in 2012 as Principal of Bedford Middle School, where he has spearheaded the effort to bring design and engineering education into the middle school curriculum. He has worked to renovate and beautify Bedford’s entire physical plant with the help of the PTA, and has restructured the clubs and activities offerings, which in turn led to the creation of Bedford’s award-winning student newspaper Ursus, Science Olympiad team, Comic Book Club, Art Collective and National History Day Club. One of Adam’s proudest achievements has been fostering a positive, professional and collaborative school culture that permeates all areas of instruction and building operations. He is a member of the Tri-state Principals’ Study Group and participates in Tri-State site visits to conduct evaluations at the invitation of member schools.
In his spare time, Adam loves to travel locally and internationally, play his cello and electric bass, SCUBA dive, fold origami, cook authentic Thai food, go hiking with his family and miniature dachshund, and photograph the natural world.
