Westport Middle School squash players delivered an outstanding performance at the U.S. Middle School Squash National Championships, a three-day tournament held last weekend at U.S. Squash headquarters in Philadelphia and featuring nearly 100 schools from across the country.

Westport sent three teams to the national competition, demonstrating skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the weekend. The Westport A Team competed in Division I and finished fifth overall, earning recognition as the top-ranked public middle school squash team in the nation. Competing in Division III, the Westport B Team captured first place, bringing home championship trophies, while the C Team gained valuable experience against strong competition and showed resilience across multiple matches.

The teams train year-round under the guidance of U.S. Squash Certified Level 3 Coach Mohsin Khan through private lessons and group clinics at Intensity. Their preparation and teamwork were evident in their confident play and positive team spirit throughout the tournament.

Bedford Middle School students recognized for their participation include Luke Amitin, Xuanhao (Hardy) Chao, James D’Angelo, Alex Jiang, Theo Keefe, Oscar Quintner, Zach Smith, Logan Warnke, Jonathan Whee, Olivia Whee, Len Xie, and Orson Xie. Coleytown Middle School students also competed as part of the Westport teams.

The Westport Squash program continues to grow, welcoming students of all experience levels. With the spring season approaching, the program invites interested students to explore the sport recreationally or competitively through Westport Squash.
